The 100 Poem Project. An opportunity and Twitter thread by Upile Chisala.
The 100 Poem Project In these trying times, at Khala Series we remain moved by the role of story in all our lives. Our mission has always been to create safe spaces where people can, like the meaning of the Chichewa word ‘khala’, just be/exist and tell their stories. This year we are looking for 100 poems! Khala Series wants to create a poetry collection that houses previously unpublished poems and prose; this collection will be curated and edited by storyteller Upile Chisala. The ultimate goal of this project is to lift little big voices as loudly and as widely as we can.
The submission of previously unpublished poetry or prose covering all topics.
Black women and nonbinary persons of all ages to submit.
A maximum of two poems/prose per submission.
Submissions that are no more than 4 pages per poem.
Submissions(Word doc or pdf), an author photo, and bio to be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org before April 4th 2021 11:59PM (CAT)
Poems that include other languages are welcome as long as the majority of the poem is in English.
Only the best of the two submitted work per poet will be included in the collection.

The 100 Poem Project hopes to self-publish this collection and have it available internationally.

After acceptance, a Zoom call will be scheduled with each of the 100 poets with the editor to discuss their submission and more.
