Travel Tuesday: Thyolo House 🪵🌳
Another week, another #TravelTuesday post.
This week, we have the amazing Thyolo House. Perfect for a personal getaway, but also if you want to experience it with 10 other friends/family members 👨👩👧👧
The Thyolo House is a unique property situated in the Thyolo district, approximately 20 minutes’ drive from Limbe. The house is surrounded by fields of tea and an indigenous forest. It has a beautiful view of Mount Mulanje 🏔
Originally the house was part of I. Conforzi Tea Estates and was one of the first houses to be built in the 1930s. Since then it has undergone renovations, but has retained the character and the charm that only old houses with a history can provide ☕️
There is a main house with three bedrooms and a cottage by the swimming pool which can accommodate a family of four. It is a wonderful place to relax, but also excellent for entertainment, having several verandas and outdoor areas 🍃
This property is ideal for walks and observing nature; there are many species of birds (it is home to scores of trumpeter hornbills) monkeys, baboons, the occasional gazelle...Beware of the red ants 🐜 !
We can also organize visits to a tea factory. The Thyolo club is just down the road. It has a golf course, swimming pool, squash court and tennis courts. 🏌🏾♀️
The Thyolo House can host small conferences, birthday parties, yoga retreats, painting groups etc. The owner has been in the catering and service industry for thirty years 🍝
The Thyolo House can be rented on a self-catering or B&B option but there is also a small gourmet menu you can order from. Please contact us at Jambo Africa to inform us of your preference. 🌳
Make sure you greet Flavia while you’re there. Super chatty and an amazing host.
